Cadence Design Systems, Inc., announced the 17.2-2016 version of OrCAD Library Builder is an automated solution for part creation. Advanced PDF datasheet extraction drives schematic symbol and PCB footprint/land pattern creation, eliminating traditional error-prone manual processes and creating accurate component libraries in a fraction of the time.
OrCAD Library Builder offers automated options to generate symbols and footprints for OrCAD Capture and OrCAD PCB Editor. The automation of the componant generation reduces errors of manual creating. With OrCAD Library Builder data e.g. BGA Maps, SOIC diagrams, QFP packages and standard pin schedules can directely be extracted from PDF data sheets.

Copmponent libraries generated with OrCAD Library Builder can automatically be verified for consistency. Reports record the results. Therefore it is ensured that the symbols and footprints match. You also can make your own model or creat the components subject to IPC-7351 models. For the fooprint creation 3 rule mechanism are available. In addition to IPC7351 these are own rules or the footprint geometry is entered directely, which is usefull for special components.

Fitting accuracy and distances to other components are important requirements in the CAD ​​Flow for PCB. With the OrCAD Library Builder there is also the possibility to generate directely a 3D STEP model that guarantees an exact matching of footprint and 3D STEP model.
