So you have started up a WordPress site, congrats. The purpose of this book is to provide the you the tools to Secure your WordPress site in 30 min or less.

It will probably take more than 30 minutes to read and digest this publication, but by implement the steps in this book you will be able to reduce your by more than 90%. In addition, I have included a checklist that steps you through each aspect of securing your site.

So why should you care about securing your WordPress site and who would be interested in hacking your site, right? Well now that you own a piece of the internet, people with nefarious intentions would love to hijack your site and use it as a platform to target others. Also, if you have collect information for financial transactions (PayPal, Bitcoin, Visa, etc...) you are a HUGE target. Show me the money!

While reading this book you might say to yourself..."some of this isn't really new." Well guess what, you would be right. However, it is usually the less complex things that seem to affect us the hardest.

Through this document, you will see that I recommend a series of tips, configuration changes, or plugins. In the selection of these different options, I stayed with best practices and plugins that had a long track record of providing secure service. I know there are hundreds of other techniques or plugins that can produce many of the same results and as they come out I will update the document periodically. However, if you chose to try new and different ideas/code (plugins especially) be very careful. It is recommended that you should use plugins that are: updated frequently, have a solid base (10,000 Active Installs), and have a paid version available.

Quick DISCLAIMER - As you read through this document keep in mind that no security plugin, scan, or advice is going to protect you 100% from hackers, spammers, or just plain bad people. If these people really want your information they will eventually get it. They have the time and you only have to do is make a large mistake and then game over. However, when playing this game you just have to keep running a bit faster than the others online when the hacker bear is chasing you. If your site appears to be tight then, hopefully, they will move onto a easier target. Good Luck! 
