| Robert G. Burton, "Natural and Artificial Minds" 1993 | pages: 319 | ISBN: 0791415082, 0791415074 | PDF | 5,4 mb This anthology explores six current approaches to the study of mind: the neuroscientific, the behavioral-experimental, the competence approach, the ecological, the phenomenological, and the computational. It is an organiz ing theme of the book that these approaches are interdependent, that they cannot and should not be pursued in provincial isolation from one another. All but two of the chapters were commissioned for this volume and appear here for the first time. The contributions of Paul Churchland and Brian Cantwell Smith have appeared elsewhere only recently. Each contribution presents work that is on the frontiers of research in its field. This book is not elementary, but it does not presuppose any particular, specializ ed background. In the opening chapter, I examine some of the scientific developments and philosophical arguments behind these six different approaches to the study of mind. The chapter is a sort of mini-history and philosophy of psychology. Title: Natural and Artificial Minds Size: 1.96 MB | Format: rar Download: - Code:
